Legal Question in Family Law in California

i just received a letter from the child support office saying i owe more than 11 gran. i didnt even know about it till now, right now i dont have a job at all and my current girlfriend's income is what we have. i've been unemployed for a yr now what can i do? my mom gives her 100 or 200 everytime she goes crying she dosent have money. im willing to cooperate, but why did it took so long for them to let me know?

The DCSS has turned into some kind of Gestapo in the past few years, with huge powers to screw up your life and take your money, and pretty much answerable to no one who doesn't have the time and money to hire a lawyer to fight them. What has probably happened to you is your ex filed a claim and they calculated a arrearage on you. The other possibility is that they got an order long ago and have only now tracked you down. Either way, you are in a very bad position, and it is acruing interest at 10%. You need a lawyer.
