If you are on active duty and your wife files for divorce you can have the ability to stall the proceedings or delay any defaults against youf or failure to respond. Active duty military individuals have certain protections against default due to the fact they are serving the country. You should consult with a local attorney to learn about your rights as an active duty military.
For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.
As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
