Legal Question in Family Law in California
I recently obtained "custody" of my disable 19 year old granddaughter (April 2017). Her mother passed away last year and biological father has been taking care of her. He recently moved to France and left her with me indefinitely. My question is: Do I need a letter stating that I am taking care of her and her SS? We did go to SS and made the address change and I have a letter stating that I am responsible for her finances but the father has yet to send me something in writing saying that I am responsible for her. I am afraid he is going to get established in France and then come get her.
