Legal Question in Family Law in California
Reconciliation rights - after Divorce
My exhusband and I reconciled twice after our divorce was final, and even became engaged again, during the last reconcilation. We are no longer together and never remarried. According to our original settlement, I owed him money for his share of the house, to be paid within 4 years of the initial separation. What recourse do I have in extending the time to pay him, since we reconciled 2x, before finally calling it quits? When he left the last time, it left me with only 7 months to pay him, instead of 4 years, as was written in the agreement. He has filed papers on me, for contempt of court since the 4 yr deadline has passed.

You need to take your judgment to a family law attorney and seek legal advice. There is much more information that you need to give to an attorney before any advice of any value can be given to you. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
