Legal Question in Family Law in California

releasing custody of a child

Mother wants Father to relinquished all rights to the child. Can the mother at a later time demand child support (monetary gain) from the father if he signs this type of document? What can the father do to protect himself against any future claims by the mother. Please note, DNA tests were never performed. Thank you Very Much!

Re: releasing custody of a child

Child support is for the child, not the parents. Neither parent has the right to enter into agreements denying the child the right to support from a parent.
