Legal Question in Family Law in California
Requesting Child Support
One son, mother and father never married, never lived together. Mother has always been custodial parent. Three years ago, father went to court to establish paternity. Father was deemed father. No child support order was ever issued.
I am filing papers requesting a child support order to be issued. Can I request it to be effective day paternity was establshed. I have son 100% of time. Father said he wanted to be involved in son's life, hence paternity test. That was short lived, now he doesn't even call his son.
Thanks

Re: Requesting Child Support
The court may not make child support orders retroactive. There are very limited exceptions. You would do well to talk to an attorney who can review your current orders and give you advice specific for your case. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
