Legal Question in Family Law in California

Reservation definition

Please advise what the following means in a court decision for child support

''child support payable by petitioner is set at a reservation effective 1/1/03''

this is the exact wording from the court order.

Thank you.

Re: Reservation definition

It is difficult to say as the sentence really makes very little sense. I would guess that someone was filling in a blank on a pre-printed form and that the intent was for the court to reserve jurisdiction to order support in the future, but makes no current order. Whether that means that the court may make the order retroactive to January 1, 2003, is another question that can't be answered definatively. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
