Legal Question in Family Law in California
I reside in the state of North Carolina and my daughters father who resides in California is filing for custody, and for me to have to live in California. Is it possible for a judge to order me to leave my job and house in North Carolina to move back to California?

Your case sounds complicated. No judge will order you to move to California. There is the issue of where the child should be living. If the child is living in NC all their lives then I don't see how a judge would order the child to uproot and move to CA. The judge would probably order the father to do his visitation at NC or have the children during the summers and holidays. Interstate custody issues are complex, so you should consult with a local attorney to see if there is any benefit for you to file something in NC to have all matters heard in NC instead of CA.
For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.
As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
