responsible for
my sister is thinking of divorce. she needs to know how much credit card dept she might be responsible for. her husband opens accounts and signs her name without her knowing.

She would only be liable for credit card debts that were incurred before she files for divorce. If she can prove that some of the existing credit card debt was incurred by forging her name and without her authority, she might be able to get out of that too.
