Legal Question in Family Law in California

Do I need to get the responsive declaration to request for order done by my mediation or by the court date assigned. Furthermore, do I give it to the mediator or do I have to give it to the clerk. How long will it take? Also, I want to do an order to show cause to have child support modified. Do I include that in my responsive declaration or a separate filing altogether. Thank you
