Legal Question in Family Law in California

I wonder whether I can restart discovery after trial in family law. If I need to discover financial matters under the new circumstance after trial, can I restart the discovery by sending request for production or written interrogatories? If yes, can this new interrogatory be request set one?

Once trial has been set, or trial is commenced, it's typically not possible to propound additional discovery. You would need to have good cause showing and file a motion with the court requesting that discovery be re opened. If trial has commenced, I dont believe that getting discovery reopened would be possible.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
