Restraining Order Conviction?

Is a restraining order/protection order against someone the same as a criminal conviction of domestic violence?

A restraining order is obtained by way of a civil court filing and trial. The court generally grants an order of protection when a person is charged with domestic violence. Such an order of protection does not require a conviction of domestic violence.
