Legal Question in Family Law in California

Restraining Order Inquiry

I was recently told by me ex-girlfriend that she has a restraining order against me. However, I was never served with any legal documents or was aware of her claims. How could I find out if this is true? Could I call the local police department and ask?

Re: Restraining Order Inquiry

Most likely she obtained it in the family law court. This can be done, at least initially, without giving notice, if the "victim" claims to be "afraid" of the person to be restrained.

Go to the local family law court and see if there is an open case.
