Legal Question in Family Law in California

Restraining Orders

I was served a temporary restraining order, I have a hearing scheduled on 9/9/03. I don't want to contest it or fight it because I really don't care for the person requesting it anyway. What are the ramifications or consequences (for me) if I do not show up at the hearing, and just letting this go??? Will I get arrested?? Will I have a criminal record?? Will it affect my present and future employment? How long will this be public record?

Thank you.

Re: Restraining Orders

If you allow a CLETS restraining order to be issued, it is entered into a state police computer system and basically labels you as someone who could be violent. Certain jobs can be affected by this when a background check is done. You need to appear, and I would suggest getting representation.

Re: Restraining Orders

My recommendation is that you not only appear but that you retain counsel to prepare for and to prepare you for the hearing. Serious ramifications can result. Please call to discuss 800-685-6950
