Legal Question in Family Law in California

Retrieval of Drivers License

I am having problems retrieving my drivers license. It was suspended via Riverside D.A. office for child support payments. I was laid off in 94 and went thru unemployment and series of part time jobs. In Fall of 99 I became employed.

I need to know what specific forms must I give the court to retrieve my drivers license and 2) how do I reduce my balance from $27,000 (since I was not working or underemployed)

Re: Retrieval of Drivers License

Generally you can get your driver's license by entering into a payment plan with the distric attorney's office.

You probably will not be able to get the amount reduced. The court cannot reduce the support after it has accrued. When you were unemployeed you should have requested a reduction of the child support. It is now too late for the court to reduce child support.
