Legal Question in Family Law in California

Returning my child to her mothers friend

I have my 6 yr daughter for 10 weeks of the year, those visitations require her to fly. Currently I fly with her to my house, and her mother flies with her to her house. But her mother now wants me to drop my daughter off at the airport to fly with a babysitter or boyfriend instead of her mother. A babysitter or boyfriend that I have never met. The mother wants to do this because she does not want to take time off work to come get my daughter when the visits is over. I have spoken with the airlines and was told that as long as the minor child has a note signed by at least one parent that they will let them fly. Do I have any legal obligation to give my child to anyone other then her mother?

Re: Returning my child to her mothers friend

Do you know the boyfriend? Do you know the babysitter? How long have they been involved in their roles as boyfriend and babysitter?

This can be touchy because you don't want to be a jerk, but yet you don't want your daughter taken to the airport by someone unknown.

If you know these people, and they have been involved with your daughter/ex-spouse for a while, then I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, I would ask to speak with both of them to make sure that they understand the rules about taking your daughter to the airport, etc.
