Legal Question in Family Law in California

Want to reverse parental right termination

I live in Califoria. I terminated my rights with my daughter when she was 3 years old because I thought it was the right thing to do at the time. Due to a death in my family, I saw the mother & child about 6 weeks ago and have been in regular contact since. The mother is remarried but the stepfather has not adopted yet. In the past few weeks my wife and I have realized that we really want to have my daughter as a perminate part of our lives. Can I go back to court and get alt. weekends etc. like other dads? Right now the mother is ''okay'' with the contact but I doubt this is going to last. My daughter really wants to be a part of my life too, will that give me something to stand on? I'm not a druggy or jailbird or anything, I just made a very bad decision 5 years ago. My daughter is 8 years old now.
