Legal Question in Family Law in California

Rights of girlfriend

After 5 years of living together I have a strange/gut feeling my boyfriend is sneakily moving out. He hasn't said anything, but there are subtle hints he thinks I haven't picked up on. He's paid the rent (which is over $1300 a month) and electricity, cable ect. since we've moved in. I have children, recently laid off, and fear I won't have a roof over my head. Are there any rights to me?

Re: Rights of girlfriend

I am assuming you are talking about common law marriage, which is not recognized in California. I suggest you visit my site, which has a list of emergency shelters if you are in Orange County. If you are elsewhere, just call the shelter hotline, and I am sure that someone can give you at least a place to start from. I really don't have enough facts to give you any other advice. Are any of the children his? If you can post more information, I can answer you more thoroughly. You can also call me if you need to. Hopefully you are wrong about the boyfriend...
