Is it illegal to run away in california? Will the family that takes in a run away get in trouble?

Yes it is illegal to run away in California and the child could be placed in custody. A person who takes in a runaway, absent legal authority, can also be quilty of a more serious crime, such as kidnapping. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
