Legal Question in Family Law in California

runaway minor

My question my friend is a minor she just turned 17 and she ran away from home because an argument with her mom led to violence and her mom beat her up so she left the house and now has nowhere to go and the mom has filed a police report on her what can she do if she no longer wants to be living with her mom because she doesnt treat her right and also her mom sells drugs can she do anything to come live with me..?

She can report her mother's conduct to a school counselor or teacher. CPS will become involved and remove her from the home.
