Legal Question in Family Law in California
runaway
In Sept 2002, our daughter ran away. SHE PICKED UP
ticket sent to her by 32 year old in California and got
on greyhound bus. We have not seen her since. The man
worked as truck driver and left his truck at his mothers
house and walked away. THE Trucking company was MAY
trucking company. WE IMMEADIANTLY CALLED MAY TRUCKing AS DID THE police. The company told us this man would not be
able to return to truck until this was cleared up. Just
recently we learned that my daughter is traveling in one of thier trucks with this man. In other words may trucking
rehired him without calling us or the police. THE president
of company spoke
to me personally and promised he would do anything to help
us find daughter-and then hired him right back. This man is a
pedophile and he is being allowed to drive truck around the
country with a pregnant runaway-no questions asked. .
PLease let me know if you feel this company is the wrong.
We just want our daughter home and MAY TRUCKING could have
made this happen or atleast gave us starting point.

NOW, IN RESPONSE TO YOUR INQUIRY --
A lot depends upon whether or not your child is a minor. Strictly speaking this is not a Family Law matter. If anything it is a criminal matter, or you may have a civil claim (but I'm not sure what the damages would be in acivil action).
Thanks for sharing your interesting inquiry with us on LawGuru, and good luck with your case.
Re: runaway
This sounds like the kind of legal problem you could spend a lot of money on without getting anywhere.
My suggestion is call the Interstate Commerce Commission. They are a federal agency which regulates truckers. If you want some satisfaction, I would start there.
Since that agency is federal, you might want to enlist the help of your congressman or senator.
Good luck.
