Legal Question in Family Law in California

Same-Sex Step parent

I have a seven year old daughter. Her bio-dad has not seen nor attempted to call her in five years. I have had sole physical and legal custody going on four years. Recently, I received a threating letter from the bio-dad which is in prison, Stating he will not go back to prison because of non child support. I dont think he's ever even made a payment. I want to terminate parental rights but I am in a same-sex relationship have been since my daughter was two. My domestic partner would love to adopt my daughter is there any possible way to do that? Please help!

Re: Same-Sex Step parent

You can adopt if dad will consent. By consenting, he will not be responsible for child support. Further, you may be able to terminate his parental rights by virtue of his jail sentence. Check with an attorney in your area.
