Legal Question in Family Law in California

savings account - joint vs single

My husband and I are emplyeed full time by different companies. He makes substanially more income than I. He decided a year ago to open a seperate savings account in his name only and keeps all informationregarding this account from me, such as monthy statements. He dubs this account as his ''buisness account''. I know California is a cummunity property state. Therefore; what is the legal channel I should take to be able to view the status of the account.

Thank you very much.

Re: savings account - joint vs single

Regardless of the name on the account, if it was acquired during the marriage with community funds, it is community property. The legal avenue would be a legal separation or a dissolution. I'm not sure that you have made that decision yet. You could file a declaratory relief action, but that would probably lead to a separation or dissolution. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
