Legal Question in Family Law in California

i am seeking legal advice on my case because i do not want to lose my kids..

i ran away from my husband with my 5 kids and we r residing at the moment with my brothers until i know were im going to stay....we left california because my husband and i do not get along and he commited domestic violence on me and i have proof that he beat me....i just want to know that is it illegal for me to have my kids accross the state line or what...thank you...plz reply asap..

You need to consult an attorney in California. California will have jurisdiction over the children because that is where they have lived for the last 6 months.
