Legal Question in Family Law in California

I am separated from my husband. He cam by to tell me that a few weeks ago he opened his own bank account, and he had his direct deposit changed to his new account. The paycheck used to go into our joint account. He said he will give me money, what he thinks I need to live. Is this okay?

You have a right to directly control your own finances. I would urge you to get an order establishing spousal support.

You are depending on his generosity, which could end at any time. You should get a court order for spousal and child support. You either have to do that on your own, with the help you can obtain from family law clinic, or hire an attorney to assist you.
