serve "order to show cause" papers how many days prior to court date?, calendar days or court days?

An OSC should be filed and served at least 16 court days prior to the hearing, unless the court orders otherwise. You must serve 5 calendar days extra if serving by mail. For details, see Code of Civil Procedure section 1005.
