Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can I serve my stepson custody papers for my daughter in law if I'm not named in the papers? I am my granddaughters care giver and would like to get this custody/ support order served ASAP? Thank you.

You probably technically can, but I would advise against it. It costs less than $75 to have a professional process server do it, which is a lot less than you'll spend if he challenges service and you are found to be an interested party even if not named.
