Legal Question in Family Law in California

I have just been served divorce papers.How am i supposed to respond, appear in court or file a written response, if so are there legal forms for me to respond with?

First ,you should consider meeting with a skilled family law attorney to explore your legal options. That being said, you can go to the county clerk and get a forms packet. Your county may also have free divorce clinics to help with the paperwork.

You really should seek legal advice, even if you are going to handle the divorce yourself. If you insist on doing it yourself, you can get the forms for free (in fillable form) from the California Courts website: http://www.courts.ca.gov/forms.htm

I also suggest reading Nolo Press' guide on doing your own divorce in California. You can find a copy in most public law libraries.
