Legal Question in Family Law in California

Serving the other person

I'm filing my papers next week. I have no clue as to where my husband is and no way of getting a hold of him. How would I go about serving him the papers if I don't know where he is? Would it be easier or marter to have the court serve him? And if the court serves him, how do they go about doing that?

Thank you for your help.

The court will not serve your husband, you have to either (1) have him personally served or (2)obtain the court's permission to serve him by publication in a newspaper.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
