Legal Question in Family Law in California

Is severance payment after layoff is treated as income for child support calcula

I receved contradictory advice on treatment of severance payment after layoff for Child Support calculations.

Some say it is a one time event and is not recurring stream of income (indeed unemployment department is not counting it as income) Indeed when my ex realized over 100K capital gain court did not count it as it is one time event.

Others say that severance payment plus unused vacation payment considered as income and used in child support calculation.

I would appreciate any case law or family law code reference or leads to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for your help
