Legal Question in Family Law in California

share legal custody

I have shared legal custody with my ex spouse on our son (age 9). If I want to take him with me to a political activity (such as a demonstration, rally, etc), do I need to ask for a permission from my ex spouse?

Generally a parent can take a child with them to activities during their visitation time without permission of the other parent. Taking a child to a demonstration that may involve violence an arrest etc would most likely be considered child endangerment.
