Legal Question in Family Law in California

sibling visitations after separated from adoption

One son is adopted to paternal aunt-age 9

Two daughters who are half siblings of the boy are in custody of my first husband.

All were in my custody until the boy was 6 and then separated for a year until the adoption of the boy at age 7.

What are the sister's rights? And if there is an age where he can make a choice (the aunt is shuting everyone out) what is it?

Re: sibling visitations after separated from adoption

The sisters (minors) have no rights. Once he becomes an adult (18 yrs. old) then he can associate with whomever he pleases. Now, surely as he gets older, the aunt won't be able to prevent him from seeing whomever he wishes. The only persons that have rights to visitation are parents and grandparents. If the parents want visitation, then, they can petition the court for same. That should be done by an attorney.
