Legal Question in Family Law in California

single status

How do I attain my single status before all the asset division is complete? This could take some time and I would like to move on.

The process is to file a motion to bifurcate status.

I agree with the previous lawyer. You will need to do a motion to bifucate the issues, so that they can be decided by the Court individually. The minimum time to wait for a dissolution in California is 6 months no matter what you do. What this means is that rather than waiting for a trial on all issues at once, you will ask the court to seperate the issues, i.e., dissolution of marriage, division of property, child custody and support, QDRO's, etc.
