Legal Question in Family Law in California

My sister entered a drug rehab program recently. Before she left she agreed to give me full guardianship of her two children. Her and I filed paperwork before she left naming me as guardian of her two children with our court.

She was not married to the father, and the two children live with me. The hearing is set for almost 3 months away. In the mean time, if the father (or paternal grandparents) want to take the children, do they have any rights being that the paperwork was already been filed and signed by both my sister and I?

Please help.

If the father is the legal father, he may have the right to take the children with him. You do not have a legal right to guardianship until letters of guardianship have been issued. You may be able to obtain temporary letters by filing the appropriate papers with the court.
