My sister has been living with someone for the past 11 years. Origionally he promised her that they would be married with in 5 years. Time went on and the promise never materialized. Does she have any recorse if he tells her to leave his house?

Unless your sister has some sort of written agreements on what should happen property wise when she breaks up with her bf without a marriage, she has no property rights. She should get something in writing if she is concerned. Otherwise she has no property rights to the place she is living at. She should get married if she is concerned about her financial security.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
