Legal Question in Family Law in California
my situation is that i've been having my nephew living with me since he was 14.He is now 17 he will be 18 in march.I dont have legal custody of him.His mom my sister just asked me and my husband to take him in a few years ago and what was suppose to be a couple of months turned out to be a few years.so now here is my question my nephew wants to go live in kentucky with his fathers sister because he was told the highschool football team is a division 1 and he has a better chance of getting a football scholarship than where he is now.his mom still has legal custody she does keep in touch with him now and then well she begged me to not let him go and i dont want him to go but he is very certain that this is whats best for him.Do i have the right to send him out of state?or does his mother have the right to say she doesnt want him to go?

His mother has the legal right to stop you. What she would or could do in fact is another story. You have no legal rights, but what actual control you exercise is another story.
