Small Claims or Family Law

I have a $4200. amount owed to me from my ex-husband. It is the final balance of unpaid child support. I live in California and he just bought property in Clark County Nevada. Can I file a small claims suit against him and do I file in CA or NV? Thank You!!

The easiest was to collect is to obtain a wage assignment and serve it on his employer. You can also register your judgment in Nevada and then have a lien placed on his property. Small claims does not have jurisdiction, only the family law courts have jurisdiction over support. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
