Legal Question in Family Law in California

Small Debt

I have been married for two years and we decided to separate. We have a verbal agreement that he owes me 3600 dollars. (Credit card debt I accrued when we were both unemployed) .I want to get a Marriage Dissolution instead of a divorce, because I dont want to spend the money on a lawyer. However I would like for him to pay me back what he owes me. How can we make an agreement btw us without getting lawyers involved?

Re: Small Debt

put it in writing and both of you sign it. make sure you include something about waiving your right to seek a judgment in exchange for his promise to pay. that might be enough, but I am not promising anything. contracts can be tricky. good luck.
