Legal Question in Family Law in California

I currently have sole custody of my son, due to a restraining order of 5 years and threats made towards my son from his father, if I ever left. The last judge we saw has ordered mediation for possible visitation for my ex husband. Since he has made threats towards our son and has a history of prescription drug abuse what are the chances of him getting visitation at this point? I only left 4 months ago.

If the father is taking the baby steps that the court orders, there is a strong likelihood that he can reform and get some sort of visitation with the child. It will probably start out as supervised and get more, depending on if he is sincere in his efforts and works with the court program.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
