Legal Question in Family Law in California

Can someones house become community property if they get married? And if they marry can they be sued for or have a lein put on it from their spouses creditors.

It can, but generally does not. What more commonly happens is the community develops a reimbursement interest in it in case of divorce. If one member of an engaged couple owns real property, however, and the other has significant debt, they really REALLY should do some premarital planning and documentation.
