my son filed for custody of his daughter and the clerk said the court date would not be until july so we filed a ex parte to get visitation in the meantime. court denied?

I assume that you meant to ask WHY the court denied the order requested. Ex Parte is really not something you should do yourself. I am assuming you didn't have an attorney, or you would be asking them instead of us. Not being there or knowing the particulars of the case, I can only say a denial could depend on your reason for requesting an ex parte hearing. There has to be imminent danger of an irreparable harm in order to bring a case ex parte, and frankly people (and colleagues) abuse this. An example of this would be child abuse, a sexual predator moves into the home, etc... The judge may simply be telling your son he can wait for a regular court date.
