Legal Question in Family Law in California

my son and his ex have joint custody of their son, my son is currently encarcerated. she refuses to take their son to go visit. can my son give us authorization to take his son to visit him? if so, how can we go about it?

Basically grandparents have no greater rights to custody or visitation than their own child, the biological parent. I recommend contacting an organization, Legal Services for Prisoners With Children about this issue. I would also recommend using a family mediation service to try to get your grandson's mother to reconsider her position.
