Legal Question in Family Law in California
My son is 17 and is living with his father bow. I want to agree to custody but his dad owes me $64,000.00 in back support. Is it mandatory that I pay child support or can we agree to no child support and I will waive the arrears?

Child support is mandatory, but you can almost certainly get an order off-setting what you will owe against what he owes, and then you can still collect the balance of what he owes.
