Legal Question in Family Law in California
My son just purchased a home and his ex-wife needs/wants to move in as she needs a place to stay. Can she have any claim or rights to the property or otherwise after a certain period of time? (California)

Not from marital property laws, once they are divorced. If they enter into a contractual agreement, such as a "Marvin" agreement, or a lease she can. If she kicks him out, pays property taxes, and maintains hostile, open and notorious possession for five years, she can get it by adverse possession.

Not as long as their divorce is final, and she is only a guest or she pays rent.
