Legal Question in Family Law in California

Does My Son Have Any Rights as a Father

My ex-daughter-in-law has just gotten remarried and is moving to Florida with new husband and my sons three children. My son has not met this man and knows nothing about him. her husband refuses to meet my son. Doesn't he have a legal right to know this man? Where does my son stand? He pays all child support on time and sees the kids.

Re: Does My Son Have Any Rights as a Father

Your son has no legal rights as far as his ex-wife's new husband

is concerned. His ex wife is entitled to marry any one she wants regardless

of your sons opinion on the matter. However, if your

son suspects that his children are being abused in any way

he should immediately report it to the local authorities.

Your son is entitled to see his children according to the original agreement. Since they are moving

out-of-state make sure that the transportation arrangments are set out

ahead of time in writing so that there are no misunderstandings in the

future.
