Legal Question in Family Law in California
My sons dad pays child support through the state, We were wondering if I give him custody will he still be paying for child support?

It depends on how much custody you give him. Child support is calculated by a complex formula that must be run on a court-approved computer program. The two main factors, however, are the balance of custodial time and the difference in incomes. If parents share 50/50 custody and make about the same, there will be little or no support payment. If one parent has 90% custody, and only earns a little more than the other parent, even though the other parent makes less, they will pay support due to the big difference in custodial time. To figure with any certianty out how much, if anything, will be paid in any given case, you have to put the financial numbers into the program and run it.
