how do they determine spousal support when income varies year to year. marriage of 11 years

They determine spousal support by the needs of the supported spouse and the ability to pay of the supporting spouse. If income varies, the court will make a best estimate by considering past earnings or could set a sliding scale with a base, plus additional as income varies. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
