Legal Question in Family Law in California
Spousal support modification
My divorce paperwork was completed by a military attorney. I'm paying spousal support and they put verbage saying the court's jurisdiction over spousal support is terminated. However, they never explained that to me or what it meant. My ex is now making a lot more money and has a live in boyfriend who is helping w/ the bills. Is there any way I can have the alimony stopped/reduced based on these grounds or the grounds that the attorney never explained the implications of the verbage in the dissolution filing? If the answer to all of those is 'no', would I still have to pay the alimony if she remarries prior to the end date of the term in the agreement? Thanks.

Re: Spousal support modification
Without reviewing the judgment I cannot give you an answer. Based on the information that you have given you can probably modify or terminate the support. If you will fax me a copy of the judgment and a number that I can reach you at, I will give you a free telephone consultation. Pat McCrary
