Spousal support

In Santa Clara County, California, is spousal support determined from the current salaries of the 2 people, or is it based on the date at which they started living apart? i.e., Married 10/1990; I moved back to Georgia 11/2002; nothing filed until now; filed joint income tax thru tax year 2005; he earns almost 5 times what I do now. We were both unemployed when I moved back. Thank you.
