Can a spouse force the sale of a primary residence in order to have her name removed from the mortgage? (negative equity.. along w/plans to divorce)

Doesn't work that way. The lender either has to agree to let one spouse assume the balance of the loan, usually through refinance, or the property gets sold or foreclosed.
